Village Amenities

The village is well served by three delightful pubs, which provide a good range of drinks, meals, and a very welcoming atmosphere. Birkby Cottage is no more than 100 yards from any of them

The Laurel on The Bank

The Bay Hotel by The Dock
The Dolphin on King Street

The village also boasts a Greengrocer and General Store, an Old Fashioned Sweetshop, a superb Fish and Chip Shop, a Tearoom in The Old Bakery, numerous secondhand bookshops and sundry other retail attractions.

The Beach is an absolute joy, with areas of smooth sand alternating with the rock scars and a wealth of rock pools. The Old Coastguard Station, on The Dock, is a wonderful place to learn more about the beach and it's ever changing scene. Fossil Hunters from far and wide descend upon Robin Hood's Bay for it's bounty, and it's not unusual to find school parties having lessons on the Beach. Children can be left to play in safety, except, of course, at high tides.

Beach walks, cliff walks, country walks - all can be taken from Bay. The only problem you'll have is choosing what to do next!
